The ocean's depths create a new realm, as of a newly discovered planet, where peculiar rules apply: Gravity, balance, visibility, temperature, highs and lows create new possibilities and new challenges. Unexpected currents might shift the photographed subject in different directions, thus creating chaos but also interest; changes in gravity require adaptation but allow new physical expressions; and difficulties in visibility may create new layers to the photograph.

 

The photo series Equilibrium includes photographs of free divers in the Red Sea. The divers’ delicate balance with the underwater environment, symbolizes the same symbolic balance in which we can conduct ourselves with both nature as well as our own inner nature.
